The upside of blogging

Last week’s post was my most read post ever.  I shared it on Twitter and Facebook.  I had a lot of people be super supportive whether it was through retweeting, sharing the post on Facebook, commenting on the post itself, or messaging me in general.  Thank you for all the support and love.

The interesting unexpected upside of the post was the apology messages and emails that I received.  They came in two different forms.  Some were sorry that bad things happened or that they themselves didn’t stop bad things from happening when saw it happening.  The others were sorry that they were the ones who did the bad things in the first place.  I think that’s a cool kind of courage to own up and take personal responsibility for something that happened in the past.  I wasn’t calling specific people out, so I was surprised when people recalled things that happened over a decade ago and realized how hurtful they were whether it was intentional or not.

It inspired me to reach out to some people and apologize for stupid things that I’ve done in the past.  If I’ve done something bad and I still haven’t apologized, please let me know.  Otherwise, I’m doing my best to find the courage to take personal responsibility and say sorry.  <3
